Her clothing depends on the situation she is trying to blend into, but when on her own time, she usually wears a simple tunic with belt and oversized cloak with a hood. NOW WE'RE GETTING NOSY. TELL ME ABOUT YOUR FAMILY.
Avael’s father, Ilrion, disappeared from her life when Avael was only 23. This left Avael’s mother, Tulja, as the sole caretaker of 4 children. The eldest, Avael’s brother, Eyan, currently 163 years old, is married and has one child. As the fine, upstanding elvish citizen he is, he and Avael haven’t spoken for many years. Avael’s older sister Iskira ended up responsible for raising the two younger children despite being only 12 years older than Avael, and 21 years older than the youngest brother, Firran.
SOUNDS INTERESTING. OKAY. NOW, JUST TELL ME EVERYTHING ABOUT YOUR PAST.
When Avael was growing up, there was never quite enough to go around. Avael was only 23 (about 4 in human years) when her father disappeared. No one knew what happened to him, but Avael’s mother insisted that something horrible must have happened to him. She never gave up hope that he would one day return and never remarried. She worked full time as a healer, and would take any odd jobs offered to make some extra money.
In order to bring in extra money, Avael’s older brother, Eyan, started working as soon as he was old enough to find someone to hire him. He quickly learned the virtues of hard work and discipline. Eyan had always taken a much more cynical approach to his father’s disappearance. He believes that their father abandoned them because he didn’t like having a family as much as something else. Eyan decided that it was necessary for him to take on the role of the responsible male role model for the family. The task of looking after the two youngest children fell to Avael’s older sister Iskira. However, she was barely older than them, and Avael resented her authority.
To be fair to Iskira, Avael was not an easy child to look after. Avael never wanted to sit still or behave. As the middle child of a busy mother, she craved attention. She began stealing small items to bring home and tell her mother that she just found them lying around. As she got older, Avael got bolder in her thefts. She began stealing expensive items and selling them on the black market to bring money home. It wasn’t long before she got in over her head. When she was in her 50’s she got caught with a pearl necklace that she had stolen from a jewelry vendor. Since she was still so young, they only forced her to return the necklace, and pay a hefty fine. Her brother was furious; he told her that if she continued stealing things, she was no longer welcome in their house.
Avael stopped for a while, but in time, she went back to her old ways. As she got older she formed connections to the elvish black market and other shady underworld figures. Unbeknownst to her, Eyan had been watching her closely to make sure that she did not continue her thefts. When she was in her 70’s her brother caught her red-handed, hiding a bag of stolen jewelry under her mattress. He kicked her out of the house.
Avael turned to her connections in the underground. She got deeply involved in a life of crime. Here she honed the skills which allowed her to sneak around unnoticed, read people, and fight quick skirmishes with easily concealable weapons. She worked alongside people from many different walks of life from those with power who wanted to manipulate the world for enough money to pairless dragons lost in an elvish society. As she grew older and wiser, Avael began to see how the politics of the world revolved around the human kingdoms, while the elvish one remained uninvolved. She also noticed how dragons and their treatment permeated the politics. Having worked along side lone dragons, trusting her life to them on several occasions, Avael pushed for their rights when she could. Avael was determined to make her mark in the world where it mattered.
Avael traveled to Thivea to learn what she could about how the country worked. She stayed as clear as she could of the criminal underground as she needed to be clear of any criminal wrongdoing if she were to be accepted to work for the government. Without any invitation, she began reporting all of the important information she found to the Thivean government. Of course, at first they dismissed her and the information she brought. Who would trust a dark elf outsider? But the information she gave continued to be correct and useful. After several years of this, she was called into court to be given an official assignment by the government. Ever since then, she has been spying for the Thiveans.

Avael does not wear armor, as it would interfere with her ability to move quietly through places. Although she can fight with short swords, she does not usually carry one with her, preferring concealable weapons. If you were to thoroughly search Avael you would find at least four daggers on her, a kukri, several shuriken, poison darts and several types of poison.
