THE SPECIES
[/color][/font][/center]01. HUMANS
The normal, everyday people. Though they possess no magical abilities, the race of humans have displayed in the past they they are capable of both great loyalty and courage as well as corruption and cowardice.
02. SORCERERS
To have any magical capability, a sorcerer/sorceress is born with magic flowing through their veins. This is a hereditary trait, and while it may skip generations it is generally passed down through parent to children. Sorcerers are capable of incredible magical feats, though must be trained to control their abilities at a young age. Their powers range from the healing magic, to elemental, to the arcane. Black magic is forbidden, and some of the most powerful sorcerers can be corrupted by it. Sorcerers tend to be very intelligent and wise, and while they are magically powerful there is very rarely a warrior sorcerer. Where their physical strength lacks their magical strength makes up for it. Unlike Fae who can only control one thing naturally, a sorcerer can control several different aspects of elements to their will.
Should a sorcerer become a dragon rider then they must share their magical energy with the dragon. The sorcerer can choose to either use the dragon's magic, or channel his magic through the dragon. However, because their energy is linked it will have a draining effect on both the dragon and the sorcerer.
03. ELVES
[/color][/i] - Wood Elves live in heavily forested areas though they also live in jungle areas as well. They have strong connections with trees, and are very in touch with nature and the animals that live in those areas. Wood elves can communicate with plant life around them and are very skilled in the arts of making poisons and antidotes. There are a few different breeds of elves, but they all have the same basic things in common. For one, Elves usually never meddle in the business of man. They have been a neutral race for several thousand years, and while a select few may involve themselves with politics or the interactions with humans, for the most part they prefer to keep to themselves. Elves are generally very beautiful in appearance, either possessing very sharp and elegant features or soft and gentle features. While elves do not ride dragons, it isn't uncommon for them to have a dragon friend, or ally that they may depend on in battle. Like the dragons, elves prefer their freedom, and make allies not in ownership or control but through friendship and trust. Elves age very, very slowly and can live up to five centuries.
Desert Elves - Desert elves tend to have light hair and darker skin. The roam the deserts, sometimes making their homes in a labyrinth of tunnels underground. They can communicate with the earth and reptilian life around them, some older Desert Elves have been rumored to even control fire.
Mountain Elves - Mountain Elves, or sometimes called Cliff Elves, make their homes in caves. They interact with humans the most as sometimes they allow humans access to mines they live near. Theses elves have a physical strength far beyond that of any man, and could easily take on a Fae in a physical fight. Mountain elves are excellent climbers and hunters, they can communicate with rocks. They have weapons made of the gems they mine and only Mountain elves know where to find the diamonds that they tip their blades and spears with.
Dark Elves - Dark Elves are said to be the most dangerous of the elf race. Despite popular belief they are not evil. Dark Elves merely are the most chaotic neutral race that you can find, and haven't interacted with humans politically in over two hundred and fifty years. They are a nocturnal race and see and operate best during the night. Dark elves can become invisible in the shadows, and tend to live near large bodies of water like oceans or lakes. They can control shadows to an extent but also have excellent healing abilities. They are sensitive to light, but the most it does is temporarily blind and irritate them.
Half Elves - Someone with an elf parent and human parent. This isn't unheard of, but it is rather uncommon. A half elf will live longer than a human, but not as long as an elf - maybe somewhere between one-hundred to two-hundred and fifty years. Half elves may or may not take on some of the elven parent attributes, though whatever magical ability they possess will be far weaker than a full elf ability. Half-Elves are permitted to have dragons, however this is very uncommon and only a couple known half-elves will have dragons. (Please PM an administrator for permission first before creating.)
NOTE: Elves cannot be dragon riders

04. FAERIES
If there is one universal rule in the world, it would be to never fully trust a faerie. They are trickier than a fox and just as sly and nimble. While they can change size, either being a foot tall or regular human height, they possess great physical strength. A single faerie, no matter the form they are in, could lift an average man right off the ground and fly him around for amusement. They have butterfly like wings and can use them to fly or fly with them concealed. Fae can produce illusions from the dust that gathers on their wings, or simply blow it in your face and make you sneeze up a storm. Faeries tend to glitter in the sunlight and all Fae have a special connection to something in the world that they can control. For example, a Faerie with a plant connection would be able to control plants to his or her will, or a Fae with a fire connection could call flames from the air and use it against their enemies.
While Fae are mostly elemental and have connections the the environment they grew up it, some have evolved to the more modern times and may even have a connection to something such as metal.
Fae also age rather slowly and tend to carry the appearance of a pre-teen for the first seventy to eighty years of their life. Fae live up to about five hundred years.
NOTE: Fae cannot be dragon riders
05. DRAGONS
[/i][/color] - Known to most for their infamous strength in breathing fire and their love of treasure, the Amans Auro is a very proud breed that is now confined to a few remote areas. They are a breed that is better for strength and defense, often in favor of Military or Police teams of Validexo. They cannot produce venom and have some difficulty with magic. While there are several different breeds of dragons, like elves, there are things that all dragons have in common. All dragons have four legs and two wings, whether they make any use of them depends on the breed. Dragons breathe fire as a result of generating methane gas in their stomachs. As the different breeds of dragon's head evolved, so also did the fangs and venom-producing organs - some dragons breathe fire, some produce venom, a few can do both. All dragon's are capable of speech, just like you and I, however whether they want to talk or not is truly what prevents them from doing so. All dragons are also capable of magic, but it all depends on the learning capability of the dragon. For some it comes almost as naturally as breathing and for others it is almost as difficult as it is for a human to learn swordplay. For this reason some dragons simply don't practice magic.
Trivia - One of the parent dragons at the Academy of Ethaia is an Amans Auro.
Dimensions [Adult] - 45 feet long, 13 to 17 feet high
Food - Cattle, sheep, and the occasional horse.
Amans Auro in Latin translates to 'Gold Lover'
Lacerta Fulmine - More comfortable in damp, woodland locations near small live stock food. Serpentine in appearance with long, thin wings these creatures are built for speed. The Lacerta Fulmine, or Lackys as they have been nicknamed, are generally a quick witted race that like speed and freedom. They cannot produce massive fireballs, though can breathe a fair stream of fire as well as spit a jet of venom rather accurately. They have great difficulty with magic, so most don't bother learning it at all.
Dimensions [Adult] - 30 feet long, 6 to 10 feet high
Food - rabbits, deer, farm animals, stray pets
Lacerta Fulmine in Latin translates to 'Lightning Lizard'
Draco Lapidem - The real brutes of the dragon world. Thick armored scales and massive feet and legs with a naturally armored skull make the Draco Lapidem, or Stoneys, ideal for busting through walls or defending from heavy attacks. They have a powerful fire breath to back up their great bulky bodies. However these dragons must have a very good motivation to do something, as they are kind of slow (or rather they might not feel like doing it).
Dimensions [Adult] - 30 feet long, 15 to 20 feet high
Food - Cattle, horses, large livestock
Draco Lapidem in Latin translates to 'Stone Dragon'
Antiqua - The Antiqua were the first dragons to come to Validexo, their name means Ancient Ones. These dragons are among the most powerful, as they balance well in fire-breathing, speed, strength, and magic, though they produce no venom. Antiqua are very old, very rare, and even rarer to be the dragon of a Rider. They are the only dragons in Validexo that are of a purple/maroon shade.
Dimensions [Adult] - 40 feet long, 17 to 25 feet high
Food - Generally all meat that isn't a bird or fish.
Solanaceae - Annual migrators, Solanaceae dragons fly thousands of miles each year to ensure that they spend their favored time in humid, cool, dark climates hunting for food. They cannot breathe fire but their venom can be spit with such deadly force and accuracy that they hardly need flames at all. Solanaceae are skilled with magic as it comes fairly easy to them. There is no known cure for their venom and most victims only live about two to three days after either having it sprayed in their eyes or in a wound or swallowing it.
Dimensions [Adult] - 20 to 25 feet long, 20 to 23 feet high
Food - Squid, seals, fish, eels, a common favorite is whale.
Solanaceae in Latin translates to 'Nightshade'
Magnum - Unlike most dragons, the Magnum actually only has use for it's large hind legs and can do little to nothing with it's very small forearms. However, being the largest breed of dragon, it finds these perfectly sufficient for carrying off it's elephant prey. Magnum are very good for running on land, and when flying they are better at gliding, so they are short distance flyers. They produce a fair amount of fire and venom, and it's really a fifty-fifty percent deal of a Magnum learning magic. They breathe fire and only inject venom through it's fangs, used to paralyze it's very large prey to make it easier to carry off.
Dimensions [Adult] - 50 feet long, 30 to 35 feet high
Food - Rhinos, elephants, buffalo
Magnum in Latin translates to 'large one'
Phoenix - The newest, rarest, and smallest breed of dragon. The Phoenix, unlike any of it's dragon brethren, actually has feathers sprouting from it's wings, areas around it's face, and tail. Because of it's size it is not to be used ever as a dragon for a team, but it does have a very good purpose. A Phoenix cannot produce venom or fire, but it is very smart and is practically born breathing magic and healing powers. Medical teams worship this dragon as it's tears can heal wounds and illnesses, plus they are very beautiful.
Dimensions [Adult] - 10 feet long, 5 to 7 feet high
Food - Rabbits, chickens, pigeons, vegetables, fruit
Phoenix dragons are normally very gentle, but if provoked they have very large and deadly talons all all limbs that could easily gut a man with one swipe.
Mixed Breeds - In any mixed breed of dragon, the father dragon's gene is always going to be dominant when it comes to abilities, the mother's gene will be dominant when it comes to appearance. Below is an example that should make this a clearer explanation.
Father Magnum, mother Solanaceae.
The dragon would have every physical appearance of a Solanaceae, however, like the Magnum father, they would produce an equal amount of venom and fire, only inject venom through it's fangs, and have the same chance of learning magic.

The Five F's of Dragonology
Signs of Growing Maturity
[/color][/i] - The chick collects precious objects from around the house, reluctant to return them.
There are a number of behaviors that show a chick (baby dragon) is nearing maturity and will soon seek to leave the nest.
Fire Play - The chick seeks out iron and flint objects and plays by making huge showers of sparks.
Language - Chicks repeat any words and phrases they hear repeatedly, in a parrotlike fashion.[/ul]
[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]
Points to Remember
- Keep iron and flint objects away from a chick, or live in a fireproof building.
- Do not release young dragons into the sewerage system of a large city.
- Mind your language around chicks - they may repeat what you say over and over in front of visitors.
- It is not recommended to leave children and hungry dragons alone.
- Hide all shiny or valuable objects.
