THE DRAGON RIDERS
01. THE RANKS
The Dragon Riders have their own individual ranks within their teams. Some teams will have individual standards and rank additions, however these standards are common amongst all teams regardless of the kingdom they reside. The ranks are as follows:
1. The General
2. The Captains
3. The Dragon Riders
The General: The General is the leader of the Dragon Riders community in that kingdom. That means that in all of Validexo, there are only two Generals. The General typically does not report to anybody, however if they are required to in the instance of declaring a war, etc. they will report to the King or the Overlord. The General is one of the political heads of the kingdom. They typically will assign missions or quests to teams, handle the management of the teams, the financial obligations, and anything else that needs to be done for the Dragon Riders. They are also responsible for the regulation of dragons within their kingdom. Generals will typically have a council of their own, and even have two or more councils of their own to make their work easier.
The Captains: The Captain is the leader of each team. The Captain will typically report directly to the General, unless otherwise requested. Captains are hand selected by the General for the position. Captains are in charge of their team, and spend a lot of time with their team members. While they are not able to select missions or quests, they can make requests or suggestions. The Captain may have specific members of their team that can act as a "council", however that is at the Captain's discretion.
The Dragon Riders: While the term Dragon Riders still applies to the Generals and the Captains, Dragon Riders alone are the members of teams. They wear the emblem of their team to represent their Dragon Rider recognition. Dragon Riders are the team members, and they tend to spend a lot of time together. The Dragon Riders are typically considered to be "what makes the teams work". They perform the actions asked of them and typically do it without complaint. They tend not to quit their position, and are not normally transferred between teams, however this is not unheard of. Dragon Riders report to the Captains of their team. On occasion, they will be given the opportunity to speak directly to the General. Rarely, they will have the chance to meet the King or the Overlord.
02. THE PROCESS OF BECOMING
The process of becoming a dragon rider is a long, life-long rewarding journey. Some declared Dragon Riders will still not consider themselves worthy of such a title. There are two processes in order to become one, however both have separate outcomes. The first of which is the most recognized, and preferably the most common, process. The first journey allows the rider to become a politically recognized dragon rider in which that rider will be assigned to a specific dragon rider team in order to serve his or her community. Recognized dragon riders all wear an emblem which represents the team they have been assigned to.
In order to become a recognized dragon rider, a rider must first attend and graduate from the Academy of their country. To read more information on the process of the Academy, click here. After graduating from the Academy, the rider will be assigned a team based on their skills, and the availability of the team. Some team Captains will require an initiation, however those will be specified upon entering the team. When a team has been assigned, it becomes official when the Rider is given a badge of the emblem of their team. Their dragon will also receive a special custom-made badge to wear around the neck. It is important to note that to be on a team, you will not be required to have a dragon. This allows Elves, Fairies, and Sorcerers to also join a team, or humans who do not wish to learn how to take care of a dragon.
If someone does not graduate from the Academy, or does not wish to attend the Academy, there is another way to become a "Rider". However, these people are not considered to be "real Dragon Riders" in the eyes of the King or the Overlord. Some may decide to find a dragon on their own accord, whether by use of the Black Market (illegally), or by going to an area with wild dragons and attempting to get one yourself that way. These riders will not be allowed on a team run by the government. However, some have been known to form teams of their own with their own rules and regulations.
03. DRAGON RIDERS OF ETHAIA
The Dragon Riders of Ethaia are stereotypically "aggressive, blunt, controlling, and intelligent", however just like in any society, they have a diverse group of people. These riders have been trained to believe that regulations need to be made for the control of dragons, in different extremities. Riders here have a tendency to be more protective over their dragon (and vice versa) than in Thivea due to the impulsive need to have a sense of control over their dragon. The most common dragon colors from Ethaia are white, blue, and silver.
There are a total of six Dragon Rider Teams in Ethaia. The Medical Team of Ethaia is known as Vigoratus. The Secret Service of Ethaia is known as Custodis. The Police Teams of Ethaia are known as Tueor and Solacium. The Soldier Teams of Ethaia are known as Obsto and Contego.
04. DRAGON RIDERS OF THIVEA
The Dragon Riders of Thivea are stereotypically "pushovers, unintelligent, easy-going, and brave", however just like in any society, they have a diverse group of people. These riders have trained to believe that dragons should not be controlled and treated like humans with the freedom to do as they please, in different extremities. There are more wild dragons here due to the notion of allowing dragons nearly absolute freedom. The most common dragon colors from Thivea are red, green, and gold.
There are a total of six Dragon Rider Teams in Thivea. The Medical Team of Thivea is known as Rememdium. The Secret Service of Thivea is known as Muneris. The Police Teams of Thivea are known as Vindico and Adservio. The Soldier Teams of Thivea are known as Militis and Certo.
05. DRAGON RIDER TEAMS
The types of teams within both kingdoms remain the same. For now, there are six teams for each kingdom. The number of members per teams is dependent on the number of members required to complete the main goal of the team. In each kingdom, there is one Medical Team, one Secret Service, two Police Teams, and two Soldier Teams.
The Medical Team: The Medical team consists of members who have high skill in the medical field. This team will go on missions or quests to heal dragons and people across the country. Members of this team are more skilled than the average doctors at local hospitals, therefore leaving them in high demand. The team will also go on missions related to finding ingredients for medicine, actual medicine, or to find certain people that may relate to solving a medical-related case. People on this team spend a lot of time with each other and travel quite often. Ideal members for this team are people with high skill in medicine, like to travel, enjoy helping others, have a high respect for dragons, and are typically kind and understanding. Dragons are not required. The captain will have a dragon to use for transportation for those who need it.
The Secret Service: The Secret Service consists of members who have high skill in stealth, stamina, observation, and strategy. This team will go on missions or quests in the opposite kingdom and will rarely get missions within their own kingdom. These missions tend to relate to find information on certain situations, people, places, or items pertaining to a specific goal. Members of this team spend a lot of time together planning and discussing. All members must sign a privacy contract upon joining, explaining that nothing may be discussed outside of the team. Ideal members for this team are people who are high in the required skills and would like a job with a lot of important behind the scenes work. Dragons are not required for this team.
The Police Team: The Police team consists of members of a diverse array of skill. This team focuses on the regulation of world laws and individual city laws. The team travels consistently through the cities and villages that do not have their own private police force to keep everything in check. The Police Team works closely with the people of their kingdom. They will typically not ever leave their kingdom in regards to their job. This job allows people to go home every night. This team may do small jobs such as fires or robberies, or large jobs such as murders, slavery, or anything related to the threat of the Royal Family. The Police Team will do just about anything they are asked to do. Ideal members for this job are people who want to work with the people of their kingdom, who may want to stay closer to home, and who enjoy getting different jobs every day. Dragons are not required, however they are recommended.
The Soldier Team: The Soldier team consists of members who have high skill in any area of the combat field. This team will go on a variety of missions or quests that come directly from the General, or even the leader of their kingdom. Their missions will usually have to do with blunt force against an opposition, such as partaking in a small battle. These teams also be assigned the most dangerous missions available, such as traveling to Isle Asis, or other dangerous locations. Members of these teams will travel the world consistently, and spend a lot of time together. Ideal members for this team are people who want a direct way to help their kingdom, and people who want a challenge or a dangerous job. Dragons are required to be on this team.
